Over 1,000 healthcare professionals converged in Cleveland, Ohio for PDM MedExpo & BioLink 2005, October 21 to 23 at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel.

With supporting infrastructure and labor in place, strong local government support, and existing healthcare industry base, Cleveland is poised to be the next big center for bioscience development in the United States. In fact, the healthcare industry already employs over 140,000 people in Ohio and will be the state’s biggest employer by 2008.

Avani International was a Platinum Level Sponsor of this Fifth Annual Medical Convention & Exposition and the main organizer and sponsor for the event’s BioLink 2005 Technology Pavilion.

The BioLink 2005 pavilion showcased new innovations in biosciences and biotechnology from international manufacturers, while a separate exhibit hall, “MedExpo,” which featured over 70 finished forms pharmaceutical and medical surgical supply exhibitors.

Avani took an active role in bringing manufacturers from around the world to display in the BioLink pavilion for the purpose of bringing their services or products to purchasers in the United States. Companies manufacturing new technologies exhibited were from India, Scandinavia, Belgium, and the USA. Indian companies represented in the BioLink pavilion included Cooper Pharma, Rubra, Everest, and Prudential.

“What a thrilling experience our participants had at our event over this weekend,” said Mr. Ash Chawla, Chairman of Avani International, “this was a great opportunity for networking and business development for those companies exhibiting that are partnered with Avani for product launches and supply chain distribution in the US. Exhibiting at BioLink 2005 was a key ignition point to their launch in the US market.”

Irene Jurca, Director, noted, “Exhibitors were delighted to have significant networking time.” The events included Las Vegas Style Casino Night on October 21 and live musical “Shakalaka Bombay,” created only for MedExpo from the artists of the hit Broadway and London show “Bombay Dreams.” The show featured original songs, artists, and costumes from “Bombay Dreams.” All were hugely popular and provided attendees and exhibitors dedicated time to make new business contacts and customers from around the country.

This year the BioLink pavilion for new bioscience innovations was a new introduction to the overall medical convention. Based on the high level of positive interest from participants, plans are under way to include a larger “new innovations” exhibit pavilion at next year’s event.
